Jeff was born & raised in Kenya & attended RVA from 1982-1992 before going to John Brown University where he studied Biology. Kate grew up in Iowa, then Indiana & finally Michigan where she completed a degree in Special Education at Western Michigan University. We met in 2001 while Kate was on a mission trip to Churo in northern Kenya. We got married in Kalamazoo in 2003 & then moved to Winston-Salem, NC where we worked for 2 years in public schools. We began our ministry at RVA in August '05 & will be completing 4 years this July before going back to the US for home assignment. We have a son Brennan who was born on Jan. 24, 2007.

We have been working amongst the Rendille since September 1981. The Rendille language was not written, so we had to learn it directly from the people and then put it into writing. Our work here involves Bible translation, literacy, and community development. We have started a Christian Primary School and plan to develop a medical facility for the Rendille.
